GT Elective Courses What do kids do in GT courses?
Our courses are designed to provide the following learning opportunities:
real-life problem-solving in a variety of disciplines
participation in high-level discussion & thinking activities
teambuilding/leadership
independent research
use of the latest technology & web tools for communication & research
experiential service learning/community service
information literacy
affective education: organization, character, and self-advocacy
Classes offered to GT students are considered Electives. Coursework is scaffolded: what kids learn in 7th grade builds upon what they have learned in 6th, thus enhancing a student’s depth of understanding. However, students new to GT at Powell will have plenty of opportunity for success as well!
